The ASUC Housing Commission resource page serves mainly as an educational resource for UC Berkeley students to navigate various community housing organizations and resources.

  • The Basic Needs Center at UC Berkeley is a hub that connects students to essential services and support for their basic needs, including food security, housing security, and financial stability. BNC should be your first stop for housing search, emergency housing and financial support, and other housing/ tenant resources. 

  • UC Berkeley offers a rental-listing service called Cal Rentals that provides information and advising for students, faculty and staff, and UC Berkeley affiliates looking for off-campus housing. The service is free for students. The Cal Rental Resources page is especially helpful in providing information about finding housing, understanding your lease, moving, and living in a new space. 

    • BHAP offers students one-on-one support in navigating the off-campus housing search. A team of students, managed and trained by the Cal Rentals office, will be available to answer questions and concerns. For one-to-one support, please call (510) 517-0699.

  • Created by the Associated Students of the University of California, this pamphlet provides resources such as housing options and Facebook groups, emergency housing resources, tenants' rights resources, and more.

  • BTU is a group of Berkeley tenants working to educate local tenants about their rights and advocate for quality and affordable housing in Berkeley. BTU holds monthly housing counseling clinics that are open to the public and emergency assistance in the event of an eviction.

    *If your landlord threatens to evict you for ANY reason, immediately email info@berkeleytenants.org with the subject line “I AM BEING EVICTED.”

  • BHA provides rental assistance to tenants in Berkeley through the Section 8 and Moderate Rehabilitation Program. The housing authority provides information to both tenants and landlords.

  • Berkeley Rent Board provides housing-related counseling appointments, implements Berkeley’s Rent Ordinance, advises the concerns of both tenants and landlords, and regulates residential rent increases.

  • The California Department of Real Estate is a California state agency focused on safeguarding and promoting the public interest in real estate matters through licensure, regulation, education, and enforcement.

  • The Berkeley Student Cooperative provides quality, low-cost, cooperative housing and community to university students across seventeen houses and three apartment cooperatives.
